  • Where in the world? You can work remotely from Europe. Ideally you will be located in; the Netherlands, Spain or Portugal.
  • Working hours? For this role, you will operate within the Central European Time (CET)

The Role

As part of our commitment to provide a single platform that enables our customers to leverage the power of a unified system, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our mobile team and help us develop our new iOS application, power our first-in-class SDK and the future of Bird mobile applications.

We are looking for a seasoned engineer to power our cutting-edge platform and drive the next generation of our products that will change the way the customer engagement platforms work today, focusing on our mobile and iOS section and using their knowledge of the iOS system and computer programming languages to create software our customers use every day.

You’ll be responsible for helping design, develop, and maintain our communication products and related services, enabling our customers to redefine the way they build relationships and do business via mobile. To be successful at this role you need to be proactive and confident, self-motivated and an owner. We work together and collaborate in a worldwide-based team to deliver and meet and exceed our customers expectations.

Our product engineering squads have the freedom and authority to create impactful products to empower both our internal and external customers. We use an agile development methodology, meaning we deploy code multiple times per day while ensuring our applications are rigorously tested and statically analysed in a highly distributed and highly scalable environment.

What You'll Do

  • Help design and build the mobile Apps that will define the future of Bird
  • Work closely with a tightly knit team of world class engineers to deliver engaging experiences through great performance and beauty
  • Engage with a wide range of our customers’ engineers to define our next generation of mobile SDKs
  • Architect for long term code sustainability that will allow us to build features fast
  • Design a simple, efficient and complete development cycle for for mobile apps and SDKs that will remove toil and free the development team to focus on deliver their best work
  • Work with and enable engineers from other teams who interact with the platform
  • Problem-solve issues based on business/customer need and impact, working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Teach others: One of the most meaningful tasks of a Senior Engineer is improving the knowledge level of the team members
  • You will flourish working in a hyper-growth environment where the next project is ready to be picked up

What You'll Bring

  • At least 5 years of relevant iOS software development experience including Xcode, swift and objective-c programming
  • Experience with App Store market and app submission and approval
  • Designed and built beautiful iOS apps
  • Strong experience with UX and mobile apps usability / design
  • A strong product mindset and experience working in product-based companies
  • Experience with REST APIs and usability, including rate limiting, failover and monitoring
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

It will also be evaluated if you have:

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of development patterns, software architectures and design patterns (TDD, Event-Driven, SOLID, Hexagonal)
  • Experience with telemetry, resiliency and defining metrics and KPIs to monitor and measure the performance and usability of your designs
  • Experience with usability and customer facing designs
  • Ability to design processes and optimisations on your team activities
